GNS Educational Bursary


The GNS Educational Bursary Program is a financial Bursary funded by GNS to assist our members attending a post-secondary educational institution. Up to four awards of $500.00 each will be given out annually to active GNS members who exemplify the objectives of GNS, if there are suitable applications.

The complete GNS Bursary application package for 2024-2025 is included below in 3 different formats. Applications including OFFICIAL transcripts must be received in the GNS Office at Sport Nova Scotia or by email (gns@sportnovascotia.ca) by Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at 4:00pm.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Keiji Yamanaka Training Assistance Program


GNS is pleased to present the Keiji Yamanaka Training Assistance Grant. This training assistance grant is in memory of Keiji Yamanaka, an amazing coach, who was involved in gymnastics in Nova Scotia for more than 40 years. GNS will distribute a $1000 grant annually to a Gymnastics Nova Scotia athlete whose family faces financial barriers. Please see attachment for further information and deadline for current year.


Kidsport


KidSport is a national children's program that helps kids overcome the financial barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport.

Managed and operated in Nova Scotia by Sport Nova Scotia since 1994, KidSport Nova Scotia has assisted over 18,000 children totalling over $4 Million.  KidSport Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300/year/child for sport registration and/or equipment.

In 2013 KidSport™ Nova Scotia allocated over $529,000 to more than 1995 children from Sydney to Yarmouth.

Sport Split 50/50


Sport Split is a monthly 50/50 raffle and unique fundraising program through Sport Nova Scotia that combines the sales from all participating teams and clubs into one monthly pot!  For more information, please click here.


Sportsweep


Subway Sunsweep is a ready-made hassle free ticket campaign designed to raise money for sport teams, clubs and organizations throughout Nova Scotia. For more information, please visit the Sportsweep website.


Support4Sport


Support4Sport funding is managed and distributed by Sport Nova Scotia, a non-profit, non-government organization, representing over 60 provincial sport organizations and more than 120,000 registered sport participants.

Since 2006, Support4Sport directly helped fund:

  • 991 athletes;
  • 387 coaches and officials; and,
  • 764 community and provincial sport organizations that reach 125,000 Nova Scotians each year.

The Support4Sport funding models have been designed by Sport Nova Scotia, the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA), and the Department of Health and Wellness, with input and feedback provided by the Provincial Sport Organizations.
